Heritage Humanitarian Awards

Garden Grove, (March 5, 2009) - On February 22, 2009, Celebrate Your Heritage, CYH magazine concluded its first annual heritage humanitarian awards, an Evening of Humanity emceed by the talented Pirates of Caribbean, Dead man Chest star, LeJon Stewart and Xuan-Lan of IBLive-TV.

“The turn out was beyond my imagination,” says Ene Taylor, Editorial Director of CYH Magazine and the Founder of the Heritage Humanitarian Awards. Event such as this give voice to the millions of helpless women and children sold into modern day slavery globally and it helps us appreciate the compassion and dedication that people bring to bear, She said. 

Over 300 guests of diverse ethnicity were on hand to experience the glitz and glam during the red carpet charity evening benefiting United States International Mission (USIM) and Million Kids. The event was encapsulated with fabulous entertainment, great music and mouth watering seven-course Vietnamese food. Some of the festivities included African Drumming performed by LeJon Stewart and Kara & Kahlil. 

This one of a kind heritage event recognized the work of five amazing women who have been a positive force in combating human trafficking/modern day slavery. Their efforts have led to the rescue and rehabilitation of many women and children sold into slavery, community awareness, policy/legal changes and education. 

Lights, camera, fashion and the unique heritage fashion show stole the hearts of out guests as models wearing designs of various ethnic groups graced the runway. Designers such as RibbedTee donated time and special edition women tees titled, Know Your Rights, Stop Human Trafficking (buy it now at CYH Store for only $26). All Proceeds go to support human trafficking.

Nogales International Humanitarian Award to Dr. Mary Shuttleworth Distinguished Humanitarian Award to Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez Enforcement Humanitarian Award to Thanh Kim Bui
